Job Summary:
Developmental Instruction (DI) services include working in a coaching role with the family or other caregiver, the design of learning environments and implementation of planned activities that promote the child’s healthy development and acquisition of skills that lead to achieving outcomes in the child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
DI provides families and/or other caregivers with the information, skills, and support to enhance the child’s development.
DI addresses all developmental areas: cognitive, communication, physical/motor (vision and hearing), social/emotional and adaptive development.
DI services are provided in collaboration with the family and other personnel providing early intervention services in accordance with the IFSP.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related fields listed in Developmental Certification Policy (2010), section J.
Training and Supervision Requirements:
Certification as a Developmental Specialist II or III.
Receive reflective supervision at least once (1) every month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works towards fulfilling Company’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Selects/implements evidence-based practices which supports the goals and objectives of the child/family’s IFSP.
Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual treatment programs.
Participates in team discussions in an articulate, positive, and productive manner.
Maintains assigned equipment in proper working order.
Perform routine repairs.
Instructs staff, as assigned, in principles used in developmental instruction.
Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
Attends departmental/business staff development activities.
Adheres to DS licensure requirements.
Maintains proficiency in developmental instruction by attending workshops, conferences, and trainings.
Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in Company committees as requested by supervisor.
May represent the Company while participating in community outreach events, activities, meetings, trainings, etc.
Responds to emergency situations in a competent manner.
Adheres to established Company guidelines within Company’s Official Documents.
Assists in quality management, research, public relations, and program development projects when appropriate.
Participates in Company’s Professional Development Plan.
May be assigned to be a supervisor for other DS(s).
To carry out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
To work in a manner that coincides with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Company.
Maintain effective communications at all levels; within the work setting and company.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Due to the nature of the Company, service delivery settings will vary.
Must be able to adapt to a variety of settings and be willing to work in clinical, community, and home settings.
Work area may be crowded.
Working schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
Duties may involve being on one’s feet for extended periods.
Duties may involve traveling to and from areas within the western region of New Mexico.
Duties may involve exposure to hazardous conditions, contagious diseases, and chemicals to repair/adjust patient equipment.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
