INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY OFFICER (ISSO)
National Radar Test Facility, White Sands Missile Range, NM

CLASSIFICATION: Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)
GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time
LOCATION: NRTF (White Sands Missile Range), Holloman AFB, NM – On Site
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The ISSO position is a DOD requirement responsible for the security of the classified information systems.
The ISSO assists the Information System Security Manager ISSM in developing a security program with coworkers and users of information systems.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), NISPOM Overprint and DOD JSIG Manual.
Must be familiar with OPSEC and COMSEC.
Ensures compliance with government and company security policies.
Must possess a strong working knowledge of computer systems, system software, computer peripherals and operating systems.
Active membership in professional organizations such as NCMS, ASIS, etc.

A comprehensive understanding of GSA approved security containers and locks is desired.
Must attend workshops, conferences, and training to maintain proficiency.
Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance.
GENERAL DUTIES: Assists ISSM to maintain approvals/accreditations for all classified systems and ensures transmission to appropriate government agencies on a timely basis.
Assist ISSM in developing information system security plans (SSP), best practices and guidelines for classified systems in SAPF classified environments.
Updates and maintains the system security plans for each accredited classified computer system at specified sites.
Conducts routine audits of approved systems.
Assist ISSM in developing, implementing, explaining, briefing and training the system custodians/users concerning their duties/responsibilities on accredited systems.
Assist ISSM in performing administrative duties to authoring SSP and all other approval / accreditation paperwork for approvals.
Must possess a strong working knowledge of computer systems, system software, computer peripherals and operating systems.
Active membership in professional organizations such as NCMS, ASIS, etc.

Must attend workshops, conferences, and training to maintain proficiency.
Job Requirements: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s Degree in Information Assurance, Computer Information Security or related discipline or equivalent combination of formal/technical/military training and a minimum of two years’ directly related experience.
Must be able to obtain DOD 8570 Certification within 6 months.
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
This position requires a great degree of self-direction and motivation.
The qualified candidate will be detail oriented, have good computer skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Guidance is provided primarily through written instructions, including the National Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), NISPOM Overprint, JSIG and RMF manuals, DOD directives SOP’s and SPP’s.

Guidelines are also provided in the form of company policies, procedures, and customer directive (written and oral).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top-Secret security clearance.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position.
Supports E-OMS operational objectives.
Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are normally performed in an office environment with periodic outside work while replacing or repairing locks, computer equipment and fiber optics in various weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires ability to carry heavy or bulky items, climbing ladders, and periodically working at heights up to or higher than 80 feet.
Work requires good vision and dexterity needed to manipulate small hardware items involved during repair tasks.
Work requires routine walking, bending, stooping, and climbing.
