Your Opportunity We have an opportunity for a Construction Observer.
This role will assist the Engineer in observing progress and quality of the work.
The Construction Observer shall provide full or part time representation.
This position is expected to require weekend shifts.
Your Key Responsibilities The Construction Observer is the Engineer’s agent at the Site, will act as directed by and under the supervision of the Engineer, and will confer with the Engineer regarding the Construction Observer’s actions.
The role’s dealings in matters pertaining to the Contractor’s work in progress shall in general be with the Engineer and Contractor, keeping the owner advised as necessary.
The Construction observer shall review the Contractor’s work, provide daily inspection reports and photographs of the work progress, and consult with Engineer concerning acceptability.
Observation will include Field observation and oversight of construction activities On-site verification and documentation of contract compliance of work done under construction contracts Preparation of construction observation reports and associated construction photographs Verification of quantities of work items performed, review and verification to certify accuracy of monthly invoices submitted by contractors Immediately notify Engineer of the occurrence of any Site accidents, emergencies, acts of God endangering the Work, damage to property by fire or other causes, or the discovery of any Constituent of Concern.
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
Excellent communication skills: verbal, writing, electronic communications, and presentations.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and work well with others to achieve group results.
Must be able to manage time, be organized, and set priorities.
Possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to make timely decisions.
Construction management, project reporting, quantity verification and compliance with contract documents.
MS Office skills, proficient in Excel.
Must be a team player and able to work with a variety of personalities.
Education and Experience 2 years of experience in construction observation and other project construction functions, or the combination of related education and experienced may be considered.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
